Become an Honorary "Crew Member" for the Night Print

Spend the night aboard one of GLNMM's historic vessels and watch history come alive. Walk the decks, take command of the bridge, eat in the galley, and sleep in the berths where brave men once served our country. Truly an unforgettable experience for any group, the overnight encampment program is well suited for scouting and youth groups as well as family or adult-only events.

Our aim is to make your overnight stay at GLNMM an unforgettable experience. We strive to preserve, protect, and operate the historical vessels, USS SILVERSIDES and USCGC McLANE. Our goal is also to educate visitors on the past, present, and future of waterway travel on the Great Lakes and other waters of the world. We are happy to have you come aboard and hope to make our World War II submarine and Coast Guard Cutter come alive for you. We hope you will leave with a renewed appreciation for those who served our country in the past as well as those who continue to serve our country today.

Both SILVERSIDES and McLANE can accommodate up to eight additional cots for larger groups. Please inform Denise Herzhaft, your Overnight Coordinator, prior to your arrival if you plan to bring more guests than you originally reserved.  We will do our best to accommodate your group; however, if you arrive with less guests than your reservation states, you are still required to pay for the number of berths for which you reserved.

Your Overnight Coordinator will assign the designated sleeping area(s) and we will inform groups when they arrive at check-in. The Overnight Coordinator will do her best to accommodate group requests, but must assign quarters to best accommodate all groups.

There must be at least one adult in each compartment where children are sleeping. If you have special requirements or a medical condition for any member of your group, please inform your Overnight Coordinator prior to your stay.
